Yes, it’s true, I used to be a LEGO designer, hired when I was 17 years old. And I still love to build!
I have done LEGO work in five decades: In the 80s, I was a model designer on the LEGO Space theme. The 90s were all about digital, combining the bricks with interactive possibilities, e.g., the first LEGO CDROM, early LEGO.com, etc. The 00s brought more digital and online work, such as an icon language, lots of concept work on things like Bionicle and (yes) Galidor. In the 2010s, there were a number of longer stints working in Billund on things like Mindstorms, LEGO Boost, Nexo Knights, LEGO Technic Control+, and more. I was part of creating the first LEGO Minecraft set and have also done product naming work. And here in the 20s, I’ve been lucky enough to do work for, e.g., LEGO Education and the recently launched LEGO Smart Bricks. It’s been a long but fun journey so far.

There will also be occasional posts on LEGO here on lovetobuild, so keep an eye out for those! Here’s one on my favorite LEGO Space sets. If you enjoy this site and would like to see more deep dives into LEGO past and future, consider supporting this site. It takes time to research and write the articles, so it would be much appreciated.
Keep building
